Adult Participation - vital to the success

Programs such as Auskick rely on the participation of adults for their ongoing success. At Mount Waverley Auskick, we strongly encourage adult participation. We would like you to think of Auskick as something you do WITH your child, not just an activity they do themselves.

We realise that it is not always easy for either or both parents to stay at Auskick with your child, due to work and/or other family commitments, so if this is the case, please invite a grandparent, an uncle, an aunt, another adult relative or a even friend to come down and attend Auskick with your child. It does not have to be the same person every week, as long as they want to have some fun!

It is not necessary to be running around kicking a footy to make a contribution. We are also keen to have as many “spectators” as possible each week, so please feel free to just come along, cheer on your child, enjoy the experience and meet some new friends.

Adult participation in Auskick is important for the following reasons:-

• Although we try our best to avoid injuries (and none of our children have had serious ones in the last 4 years), it is a great help if there is someone familiar on hand in case any do occur - even minor ones.
• You can learn the skills with your children, (it is great when we can have some one-on-one skills sessions), and practise these skills with your children during the week.
• You can be on hand to take your children home in case of bad weather when the multi-purpose room is not available. (We will not be playing outside in wet conditions)
• You can assist in maintaining the good behaviour and sportsmanship of the children.
• You can help with the setting up & returning of equipment, pumping up of footballs etc.
• You can assist with fundraising, or any other activity which will improve the program.
• You can meet other parents, and form new friendships.
• You can simply have some fun with your children (the most important reason of all) !
